Let it be recorded: We are not silent!

Richard Land gave the following remarks at the Rally Against Ahmadinejad in New York City Sept. 25. Land, representing the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, joined 60 other national religious and political organizations in protest outside a “peace” dinner honoring the Iranian president. His remarks have been slightly edited for publication.
The disgraceful meeting between religious leaders and President Ahmadinejad has been described as a “conversation about the role of religions in tackling global challenges and building peaceful societies” with “His Excellency” Ahmadinejad as the guest of honor.
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. And you can call a murderous dictator “His Excellency,” but he is still a murderous dictator.
I am appalled at the moral obtuseness of people, some of whom come from historically pacifist religious traditions, who are so eager to talk with a man who advocates the annihilation and destruction of Israel and America. He is within his own country a vicious persecutor of non-Muslims, including Christians, and the 300,000 followers of Bahá’í who live in Iran.
Secret government documents smuggled out from Iran talk about Ahmadinejad’s plan to eliminate the Bahá’í, which sounds ominously like the “Final Solution” that occurred in Nazi Germany.
When I watched Ahmadinejad give his speech at the United Nations, I couldn’t help but feel that he was channeling the spirits of Hitler, Himmler, and Goebbels.
These people who are witlessly going to meet with the world’s prime sponsor of terror and anti-Semitism—I must confess that I believe they are channeling the spirit of Neville Chamberlain.
I often wondered what it would have been like to have been alive in the 1930s as the evil specter of Nazism was contaminating the globe. Now I have some understanding of that.
When I was in high school, we were reading original documents in an advanced Civics course. One of the documents was Mein Kampf. I can remember going to my mother as I was reading the book, and asking her, “Didn’t anybody read this book? Everything Hitler said he was going to do is in this book.”
My mother replied, “Yes, some people read it. But they just thought he was a nut.”
Well, he was a nut. But he got control of a country, and he lead humanity over a cliff into an abyss of horror that caused tens of millions of our fellow human beings to be exterminated. Make no mistake about it: Iran is the epicenter of anti-Semitism and terrorism in the world.
My mother and father always taught me that you should never, by your silence, be mistaken to be in agreement when hatred or evil is spoken in your presence.
Let it be recorded: We are not silent. We condemn this man’s regime. We condemn everything he stands for. We condemn those useful idiots who help his evil causes by their witless complicity in meeting with him.

Lord, lift the veil from Americans eyes, that all see Your Truth, and hear YOur Voice and stand for freedom as You have granted us, for every one of Your children, every human being. Lord show us how to elect conservative politicians who will protect life and freedom, morally and fiscally.
Lord give us courage to call evil, evil and the courage required to stop it.

I personally find it shameful that this man is even allowed into the United States considering his remarks concerning Israel and the United States. Have we besome so complacent to even allow this man to speak at the United Nations when the premise is all about peace. I’m more than thankful that my God is Sovereign.

I share the views of others about this terrible leader. But I was shocked at the comment that Dr. Land made, “channeling the spirits of.” That is a statement I would expect to hear from a non-Christian. Does Dr. Land believe in “channeling”?
