Tell Congress to Stop EPA Power Grab

By Richard Land - Mar 29, 2011 -

Dear Friends:

This week, the House and Senate could vote on legislation that would prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from imposing sweeping regulations—already totaling 18,000 pages—on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions. The Senate is expected to vote on this tomorrow morning.

Congress needs to hear from you today!

The Energy Tax Prevention Act (H.R. 910 and S. 482) would stop the EPA from doing an end-around on Congress in the name of curbing alleged man-made global warming. The actual effect of the EPA power grab would be disastrous: massive energy taxes, the destruction of countless jobs, and little, if any, environmental benefit.

In the previous Congress, the House narrowly passed a cap-and-trade bill, but thankfully the measure died in the Senate. Now, with the global warming train derailed legislatively, the Obama administration is trying to impose a similar agenda bureaucratically.

Such EPA regulations would put the brakes on our already slowed economy, forcing industries and businesses to slash jobs and to pass their taxes onto individuals and families in the form of price increases on commodities and energy. This would make it even more difficult for America to climb out of its current economic troubles. The poor would be hit especially hard. Making this worse, the whole basis for the policy—catastrophic, human-induced global warming—is not even settled among scientists, who are growing increasingly skeptical of such human impact.

This backdoor EPA effort must be stopped.

If you agree, please contact your representative and senators today and urge them to support the Energy Tax Prevention Act (H.R. 910 and S. 482). Also, urge your senators to vote “yes” on the Energy Tax Prevention Act as an amendment by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to the small businesses bill (S. 493).

You can reach them by dialing the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Or send them an e-mail here using a suggested text or one entirely your own.

Thank you for your partnership.
