When one person kills another person, that person has commited murder. Why should a women be able to take a living baby/ embryos life. Especially since stat’s show that 96% of women who have abortions use it as a form of birth control. Another statistic shows that in the year 2000 more children died from abortions than Americans that died in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean, Vietnam, and Gulf Wars. There is a simle solution to all of this don’t have sex, if you are not ready to have a baby.

Abortion is most definately a horrible thing. It is also murder. It does not matter what race or ethnicity of women are having the abortions. All that matters is that they are happening and they are happening far to often. We do not need to worry about the small details of the statistics because that is not even the point of those statistics. Instead of sitting here complaining about who is being racist why not make a difference and save the babies lives or do not voice your opinions at all. The problem is about abortion and that millions of innocent children are dying.

How about considering that in a lot of cases woman struggle to no end with their decision to terminate a pregnancy but do so understanding that it is the responsible thing at this point in their life. Is having a child that you can’t support and don’t have time for better? What a woman does with her body should be her decision not the federal governments! I guess I am of the opinion that people all have their own views. I will never understand the woman that stand outside hospitals yelling obscenities at woman who are going in for an abortion. That is the time that we as woman should band together in support of a personal decision. Next time you are quick to judge imagine the person in question was your best friend. Would you be so harsh to her? I bet you would find it in yourself to support her despite you beliefs. Love and compassion will take you far!

How can you say that? It took my sister 6 years to conceive a child. After 4 years of trying, they decided to adopt. They were told that if they wanted a newborn baby to adopt they would have to wait a few years. A few years!?!?!? She was devastated! There was a long list of women waiting to adopt a newborn baby! All these babies being aborted and all these WORTHY couples willing to take care of those murdered children. How you say these women are the ones who are going to be caring for the child when there are so many people willing to open their loving arms and turn an unwanted child into a WANTED child. Finances is not an excuse for an abortion! Not only is there an incredible amount of aid given to single parents in the form of welfare, but there are so many people out there that can not have a baby and are willing to take the place a maternal mother. Saying that a woman has a right to what she does with her own body is right. BUT, When it goes beyond that and it does involve another human life then someone does have to step in and stand up for the rights of that little human life. Now days people do not want to take responsibilities for their actions. They want an easy way out not caring about the expense another human life has to pay. No matter how one feels about the issue according to God it is wrong and he is the one that we ALL will have to answer to in the end whether we like it or not. Abortions are good for several reasons:

1- The mother of the child may be a young adult, 14-18 yrs old.
2-The mother may smoke/drink and could give her child complications.
3- The mother may not be financially able to care for her child.
4-Her spouse/significant other and herself may be having relationship problems and won’t be able to give enough attention to it[the child].
5-Her career/her partners career may not be able to take it.

And since it is not necessarily life until it is born, the mother should have all decisions about it. It’s her child. It is growing inside her body. Why should other people have choices over her would-be child? It’s unfair to say that. If she wants to have the child, she can. But if she’s not ready, she can decide to have the abortion. no one’s pushing her. It’s her choice.

I agree strongly with Daisy. I’m defending her by saying that the government and society do not have the right to interfere with an individuals life.

I have always been pro-life. What is wrong with women believing that it is okay to murder something so precious that is growing inside of them. They are not women they are cowardly monsters. I believe God is pro-life. They are the"heritage"of the Lord,His"reward"(Psalm 127:3),The Bible is clear that the child is to be protected even in the womb.The ancient Hebrews had penalties against anyone that caused a woman to miscarry, (Exodus 21:22-23).The Word of God says that there is a penalty to pay, not because it is a blob of tissue,(as the abortion proponents want us to believe) but because it represents a human life.

Really, most women(and men)who choose abortion do so out of fear (fear of responsibility, fear of getting caught in an affair, fear of parents, fear of not being able to support a child, fear of losing a bright future, the list is endless). Please consider: Everyday 2,660 babies in the US are born into poverty; 27 die because of it. Among the 21 most affluent nations, the US has the highest % of poor kids. When you vote to make abortion illegal, I hope you are ready to foot the bill for more financial assistance. Adoption is a great option. But there are not enough families in the US willing to adopt HEALTHY BLACK NEWBORNS. Many go straight into foster care, 500 kids are adopted FROM the US TO other countries every year. So, along with more welfare, I hope you are also planning to adopt several black children into your family. Not to mention that crime will increase and there will be more medical emergencies. I do not like abortion; it’s ending a life. I also think EVERY KID deserves a fair start to life, and the 15 million currently living in poverty in the US are not getting a fair start. Please think about that while you are sitting in your warm house eating a good meal.

I’m writing a report on abortion, Pro-Life versus Pro-Choice. Right now I’m on the fence. It’s the womans right to choose what goes on with her body. I don’t think that I could ever have an abortion, but I’m not in that situation right now. If I was, my opinion may have been different. A fetus could be considered a parasite to the womans body. I feel that a PBA is wrong. Abortion should be outlawed after the first trimester. That gives a woman a total of three months to make a descision. I am a woman who has had an abortion. At 17, for countless reasons, I aborted an unborn baby that was about 4 weeks old. Today I am half way through a Master’s in Counseling. I aim to specialize in post-abortion counseling. Millions of women are suffering psychologically and emotionally from their choice. Abortion is murder, but many women who choose it do so out of fear, pain, immaturity, and sometimes from force. We can’t forget these women in our anger of abortion. We must offer them hope and forgiveness. We must acknowledge their loss and grieving. Arguing the harm of abortion with angry words of killing, murder, and sin won’t reach frightened young women...but perhaps if we, with love, explain the harm many women experience after abortion...maybe we can help some choose to have their babies or place them for adoption. Let’s not forget the hurting women in our drive to safe their babies…

Stephanie I agree. Most abortions are done out of fear. A lot of you are quick to want to put mothers in prison for aborting their children. I do not believe in abortion. I believe its a sin, its murder. But I had one. I was 22 and scared to death to tell my parents.
Now I am 33 with three wonderful children. God is a God of grace, without Him sending His son to die on the cross I would get what I deserve.
The bigger issue is that we have to educate women on the later effects of the abortion, how it will change their lives, possibly their health and provide them with the alternative choices . I am considering entering a pageant with abortion as the platform. I hope I can make a difference.
I am disgusted at what I have read about planned parenthood.

In my opinion abortion is completely wrong. I’m completely against it and I have no idea why someone would want to even have an abortion. I realize that coming to the decision of having an abortion can not be easy but I dont understand how anyone can live with themselves after having abortion...Abortion is murder. I developed Post-Traumatic Stress disorder immediately after the procedure. I’m seventeen years old and it’s been a year. I’ve never been the same. I was pressured by the boy to have sex without a condom.

i am working on a research paper and my topic is abortion. i am pro-life and all of the research that i have done has just made my belife stronger…
the “fetus’” heart starts to beat at 21 days. that means that it is alive. nearly half of all pregnancies in America are unintended 4 in 10 of these are terminated by an abortion. and 46% of women having an abortion didn’t use contraception. 8% of women having an abortion have never used contraception. only 1% of these were rape victims. in 2001 59.2% of abortions were committed at 9 weeks or after, these were done after the heart starts to beat. i am just a fifteen year old young girl who is worried about my fellow young women and there mental emotional and physical health. thank you for reading this and taking the time to listen. When we do nothing, then nothing gets done. When we don’t speak out about the truth, then the truth doesn’t get out. We must speak out we must at least give everyone the information that is lacking so that they can make the right choices… Would I have had my abortion 28yrs ago if so one had told me the truth?? No I would not have. I would have stood up against my parents and I would have given my child a chance, but because no one was there to tell me the truth and even my parent were mislead, my child is dead and I carry that with me every day.

I speak out in church, in Sunday School and even here at work. I let young girls and boys know what happen in hopes that if they do make that mistake that they are still loved and forgivened.

Abortion is not bad unless the girl is getting it just because she was stupid enough not to use protection. I pray that you never do. But please remember that a child who is conceived by rape or even incest could be the child who grows up to save your life some day or even your own child. It’s never the unborn’s fault that he or she was conceived in such a horiffic way. I myself know of 2 people who were the product of rape and one is a surgen who save’s lives daily and one is a cop who now protects us. How meny lives would be lost with out the surgen or how meny murder’s, robber’s ect.. would be on the street still if not for the cop?

It doesn’t matter what religious thoughts you do or dont have by having an abortion you are killing your baby no matter how you try to fool yourself into thinking that you are removing tissue or having a simple operation you are in fact killing. And if you think that its okay or you say that its not your fault that someone pressured you into having sex or your mom didnt get you birth control saying that is lame and only shows that you cant take responsibility for actions and your looking to place the blame on anyone else but yourself. by having an abortion you are ensuring that that child will never have a future or chance to help others or make a difference in the world and that guilt is something you have to deal with.

I believe abortion on demand is a symptom of both the growing trend of irresponsibility among couples and of other social problems which abortion puts a bandage on but does not fix. These include race related poverty and lack of financial and educational opportunities and a society where some still stigmatize a child born “out of wedlock”.

Any feminist worth her salt should understand that a better concept of “reproductive rights” is a woman’s right to BEAR a child, whether in a marriage or not. Having a man’s last name and familial protection (while often a honor) does not make a child more worthy of life and or respect than having a woman’s last name and protection and support. If we really want to solve the abortion problem, we need to solve the poverty and education and attitude problems that make women feel abortion is their only choice.

Two wrongs (abortion plus social forces that drive women to it) do NOT make a “right”, and that IS an intended pun.

The arguments 1)that abortion is good because it protects our rights to do what we will with our bodies from government regulation, and 2) that abortion frees a woman from unwanted parenting responsibilities are both errant. First, we do have rights to do what we will with our bodies, but not other’s bodies. That’s where governments must regulate. A fetus is a developing human being with a potential future that abortion negates, leaving the fetus no chance to defend itself because it cannot. Abortion encroaches on the fetus’s right to life. And, depending on how one views the meaning of “person”, that right is guaranteed to everyone in America in Amendment 14. Regardless of the Constitution, abortion would still be unethical because it deprives the fetus of a future, and the reason we punish people for killing another is because they take that individual’s future from them, not because they make them stop breathing or bereave relatives.

Also, size and level of development is never a valid reason to kill a human being or we could kill the mentally challenged (abortion of course does profile the handicapped for death) and “little people” or midgets.

On top of that, whether or not one is wanted by one’s parent is irrelevant to one’s right to live. The ancient Roman paterfamilias could kill his children if he chose, but legality did not make it right, and neither does the legality of abortion on demand today make it right or less a form of parent to child oppression, only now it is a mater-familas in control.

from the research ive done about abortion, some people believe abortion is ok because the Bible didnt say anything about abortion being considered a bad thing. also also been written that a baby starts his/her life when they take their first breath.

But to me, i dont think that part matters, when the baby’s life starts. i think it matters most when the mind, consciousness and soul start to exist. (from what i remember, someone told me it starts to exist within 7 weeks..?)

i am only 16 years old. I’ve seen many girls my age have an abortion, when I asked one why they done it she replied “Because like, why would I want a baby? I don’t want to become fat &+ have to put up w. a whining child 24|7.”
I found this shocking, how could you be so cruel. Many women today are usuing abortion as a form of birth control. The murder of an innocent child, considered birth control!
I may be young &+ ignorant on some subjects, but I’ve done everything I can to educate myself on abortion. 7,000 abortions occur in my state alone, that sickens me.
Also, the Laci &+ Conner act protects unborn children, but not in the case of abortions?
How is that fair?
I’d like someone to explain to ME how the killing of an innocent life can be justified. They have no way in defending themselves, so the decision is left to the mother, who may just not want to take responsibility for their actions.

I neither support nor oppose abortion. There are times when women use abortion as an easy way out. They intentionally didn’t use protection because they knew they would have a way out. But there are also women who have abortions because they are pregnant by rape, because of religious reasons (they don’t want to be shunned by the church), because they really can’t raise a child (they are in school or they don’t have steady income, or only enough income to make it). Why do we continue to jugde these women? You do not know half of what they go through after an abortion. It’s not up to us whether or not it’s wrong. All we should hope for is that they never get themselves in that situation again and that they have asked for forgiveness from our Savior.

I can’t look at a one-month-old fetus and imagine it deserves the same rights as I do. Because that SHOULD be the debate, whether abortion is unconstitutional or not. But of course, religion sticks its nose everywhere, although religion and state are supposed to be equal. The arguments are that a fetus deserves civil rights: LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I find it hard, however, to believe that a fetus’ rights override mine, or are in any way equal to mine.

I believe women AND men alike are irresponsible when it comes to contraception, and many couples do take the easy way out. Also, I find it offensive that women are always to blame, no on ever mentions the father, and the possible pressures or threats he may exude on the mother. There are far too many different circumstances to be able to categorize them all into one general formula.

Abortion is not simply causing a fetus to fall out of a body and peacefully die. In the first trimester they put a tube up the woman with a blade that stabs and dismembers a baby before sucking it out. In saline poisoning procedures, the baby is horribly burned to death by the solution. Partial Birth Abortion actually pulls a baby out, stabs it in the head and sucks out it’s brains. It’s one thing to choose not to have sex or use protection if you don’t want a baby yet. It’s another thing to mutilate, burn, and otherwise horribly torture a child to death because you aren’t ready to be a Mommy. Give the poor kid up for adoption if its going to cramp your lifestyle so bad. So many families want babies who can’t have their own.

Have you ever been in someone else shoes? There are many reasons for abortions and people always say there just excuses. For Example financances, well then get welfare well first of all welfare isnt enough money to survive on. Have you ever tried to survive on 13,000 dollars a year. How is that enough money to support your self and a child? Have you ever had to tell your child you dont have money for food today? Or tell them why you dont have a place to live? I believe it is wrong to abort a fetus. a fetus is a baby in my eyes and i also thinks the Good Lord calls it a child too.I respect those who believe abortion is ok. There is no life until birth? Excuse me? If it is not life before birth then there can’t be a birth. Babies don’t just pop out of nowhere. They are formed in the womb, beginning with the heart. It it’s not life inside the womb, then why is someone who murders a pregnant woman typically convicted of a double homicide? Even wild animals don’t kill their own like we do. The mother has rights, yes. But who is there to protect the rights of that unborn child, a living being inside the mother? I frequently hear that abortion is a woman’s right—what happens to the rights of all the female babies (future women)-- killed by abortion?
And as for those who say that babies concieved by rape or incest should be aborted, how would they feel if police showed up at their door to arrest them for crimes committed by a relative? Would they willingly go to the electric chair for a stranger?

Hey there friends. I just want to add my small bit in this very large and very relevant topic. I’ve grown up in a community where pregnancies are all too common. In my state, parental consent isn’t required to abort, and the majority of women who do get pregnant are at high school and even intermediate levels. I grieve when I think of potential life stolen from human beings who are defenseless. Those babies could have turned out to be my best friends or even someone who’d make a insignificant difference in my life, but a difference all the same. I love all people. I love because God loves. I forgive because it is God who has forgiven me. I think that all people who are affected directly by this act NEED forgiveness and love. That’s what Jesus is here for, folks.

Those who support it it give many different reasons, rationalizations, and yes, excuses for making SEEM ok.
1)My personal least favorite: It’s my body. I do whatever I want with it. No one is going to tell me what I can and can’t do with it.

I hate this excuse for several reasons. First, because it represents what I feel our society in general has become far too much of - SELFISH. The whole concept of “Lookout for #1” is wrong itself. That is not how anyone with half a brain should look at life. They should know that any strong person, or society helps its community and cares for others in it. Secondly, because it does hold any water. It is not your body that is in question. It is the life that depends on it that is. As Brooke said “First, we do have rights to do what we will with our bodies, but not other’s bodies. That’s where governments must regulate.” And it does. It regulates what you can put into your body everyday. Otherwise all drugs would be legal.

2)Poverty. Poverty is not an excuse for terminating a life. There is always a way to provide. No, I have not had to tell my child “I cannot afford food today.” But my mother has. She was a 20yr old unwed very poor woman with no education, and no job at the time she got pregnant. Guess what. She got a job. In fact, she got two. And, while we were very poor for quite some time, and we sustained on literally bread and butter for longer than anyone should or would want to, we made it through. And I truly believe I am a better person today because of it. And again, adoption is always an option.

3)I can’t have a baby because of school, or work.
Again, this is so selfish I can’t hardly stand it. You are trying to tell me that money, and a dream job are more important than a life? I’ve got news for you, either of those things can be done while pregnant and with a child. I’m not saying that it won’t be hard, but thats what life is. HARD!!

4)Parents.
Seriously? How many of these teenagers who are using this excuse have no problem tell their parents where to stick it when they get told to not go out, or be home by 9 o’clock? Have the baby, let them see their grandchild, and them ask them if they want to kill him/her themselves.

5)The adoption agency is too overcrowded.
Is it better to die? I’m pretty sure that if you ask any kid in an adoption agency if he would prefer to be chemically burned to death, or stabbed in the base of the skull and have their brains sucked out, they would decline. Yes, I agree that it may not be the best place for a child. There are better places to be. But it gives them a chance. That’s all they need.

Are you kidding me? I’ll start with the whole “look human” thing. If you are saying that because it isn’t fully developed yet, and doesn’t look like a cute one month old, and that qualifies it for termination or doesn’t even have the same rights, then you must think it is ok to shoot everyone with a cleft pallet or a deformity.
Isn’t alive? Let’s look at it medically. It has a heartbeat and a brain, and it requires food, water, and oxygen. It learns. It grows. Sounds pretty human to me.

I don’t mean to sound so harsh. And I know that I have not conveyed my thoughts exactly how I wanted to, and for that I apologize. All I am trying to say is that there is ALWAYS another option that is far better than abortion. It really is not a choice.

How can anyone seperate religion from this topic? Religion is relevent only when people are alive, and if babies are aborted, then what is the point of religion?
I think that the “I deserve the opportunity to abort just because I want my rights” bit is as valid as if you said “I should have the means and opportunities to shoot someome without penalty because I need my rights.”

There is no justification, even if the mom’s life is in danger. The mom has had a chance at life, why take that from the child as well. Also just because there is a possibility of endangerment doesnt necessarily mean that all will end badly, God has been known to do great things(just read the bible or even examine your own life). Someone who has a heart would put the baby first, even before ther own life. In the case of a rape, don’t punsih the child punsih the man who did it. If for some reason you dont want to keep the child, put it up for adoption. Dont rob the child of their chance to grow up and be someone who could make an impact on the world.

I really believe that abortion should be illegal. If murder is illegal, then abotion should be illegal. The fetus is alive. No matter what anyone says, the fetus, no matter how old, is alive. If you don’t believe that the fetus is alive right away, it will soon be alive. Therefore if you cut off the fetus’s life, you are also cutting the possibility of the life of the soon-to-be baby. At seven weeks in its mother’s womb, the fetus already has hands. And not far after that the baby already has finger nails and toe nails, and distinct bone structures, that people are just willing to throw away. Women always say that they should have the right to have a baby or not. They are saying that if they don’t feel like they are ready to have a baby, they should be given the right to kill their baby! I don’t see how that makes sense, but whatever!

i am a grade 10 student and i found this website as i was researching for an eniglish paper on injustices. for my injustice i chose abortion. i do believe it is an injustice. this is a baby with a life to live. each person (weather “fetus” or born person) is a miracle of life all its own. i am a christian and i have very strong feelings against abortion. but i respect the beliefs of those who are pro choice. from the reasearch i have done, i have discoverd that abortion is a very dangerous thing. if u look at pics of aborted babies u will see the horrible deaths they go through. in my research i found a reference to an ultrasound video of an abortion. i believe it is called “the Silent Scream"… look it up....

I agree with some of the other comments. Abortion is absolutely wrong! Never in modern times, has the government granted to one citizen the absolute legal right to have another person killed in order to solve their own personal, social, or economic problems. I think this statement says everything about abortion. The argument for allowing abortion in the case where carrying it to term is one of self defense. A person is legally (and morally?) allowed to take action in order to save their own life - if that action results in the death of the one who is threatening them, they are not held responsible. So if the unborn child is threatening the life of the mother, even though it is unintentional, I think the mother has the right to make a choice to defend her own life in that case. As to arguing whether or not the unborn is a human being, my question would be, “What else is it then?”

Reading half these comments, people are talking about something they have ever experienced or felt so how can you possibly stand back and judge others? In general i don’t believe abortion is right but to say that under no circumstances should a woman have an abortion is just wrong. What if the woman was fatally ill? What if she was raped and couldn’t bear the thought of giving birth to the child? I agree with the people who have said “what if it was your best friend?”, would you treat her the same way you treat others you don’t know? Would you antagonized, pressure and bully her? Most woman don’t take the decision lightly and feel guilty so what right do you have to make them feel more guilty? I don’t like the idea of ending a life but each woman should decide for herself what is right for her and others SHOULDN’T judge her for that. I wouldn’t judge anyone for the decisions they make because no-one can possibly understand what their situation is.

How many abortions should a woman be allowed to “choose”? Doesn’t the term “choice” apply to the choice of having unprotected sex in the first place? Most women realize that when they make the conscious decision to consent to unprotected sex, that there is at least a possibility of pregnancy. More than H of the women having these abortions have had one previously. Isn’t one enough to make a woman “choose” more wisely the next time, so that she is not put into that position again? Sadly,pro-lifers will likely never see the day that Roe vs Wade is overturned. It would be a nice though, to see some limitations. There is no reason that women need the right to choose over and over again. Does it take 2+ abortions to realize that you aren’t ready for children, or that it conflicts with your job, or that you are in a bad relationship? Or more simply, that you just need to stop having unprotected sex? Please women, lets show the world that we are more intelligent than that.

Serena, we should never antagonize, bully or pressure women (or anyone, really). As pro-lifers we should be more supportive to these pregnant women - trying to lovingly offer alternatives like post-birth help, adoption counseling, etc. But it’s also wrong to simply say that it’s an individual choice - because we are talking about taking another human’s life. No one should have that right.

No matter what our opinions, we all have one thing in common. We had a mother who chose to give us life. And as for the “back alley” abortions, contrary to popular belief, the streets were not strewn with dead mothers and babies. Most women made different choices before the fact, not after. I encourage you all to google “partial birth abortion” images. What you will see is not pleasant, but if you are pro-choice, you should have no problem actually seeing what it is that you are in support of. I personally went there to remind myself of exactly why I am pro-life.

what people really don’t get is that the incidence of people leaving babies on the street and in garbage cans has gone UP since abortion became legal. Why do you suppose that is? I believe it’s because we have taught a couple generations of women that it’s not really a baby, just a blob of flesh, etc. Therefore it doesn’t matter what they do with the fetus once it’s born. We have devalued life and are paying the price. First the unborn, next it will be the handicapped & elderly. Prior to roe v. wade the number of women & babies who died from illegal abortions was in the thousands. Now the babies who have died are in the millions - and women have suffered too - both emotionally and physically. Many who undergo multiple abortions later suffer from infertility. The whole thing is just a crime against ourselves.

i dont think that there is any excuse for women to have abortions period...even if her life is in danger...the mother has had a chance to live and experience things (maybe not all things but still things) and she shouldn’t take that gift of life away from another person..theres a reason that god gave the woman that child and a reason that god would take teh woman away to be with him if that were to happen..she just have to trust god..if he feels that the baby should be brought into the world then theres a good reason for it..and if he decides to take her life then she has to trust that he did it for a reason..dont be selfish and take their life over yours...yall consider it murder, yet dont consider her having that chance of passing away during the birth a sacrifice out of love for gods gift to be brought into the world...jus think it over.....

Sammie, I’m not saying I would abort a child if my life was in danger, just that there is room to allow the Spirit to move the individual conscience in cases like that. And of course from a strictly legal standpoint, the argument of self-defense stands, whereas in other cases selfishness is really the only argument a mother has who wishes to justify an abortion. That sounds harsh, but it’s true - the only reason to abort is to make the mother’s life easier, simpler, happier, whatever.

Why is “choice” only allowed in the case of an abortion. If I want to choose to kill myself, or do drugs, or anything else that could potentially harm myself or others, the law says I am not allowed to do that. However if I want to have unprotected sex, happen to get pregnant (which most know is a possible result), stay that way for 3,6,9 months, however long I choose, I can then decide to kill my baby. Hmmmmm...... And our new president says we don’t torture here in America. I can’t think of any better way to torture someone then to inject them with a toxic substance, and slowly cut them into pieces.

And Emme, you actually have no idea what color or nationality I am. My personal and spiritual beliefs have nothing to do with that. I am a Christian, and I do not believe that it is moral or glorifying to God to kill another human being. I didn’t think so when Clinton was president, and I don’t think so now.
