It seems to me that putting a Fairness Doctrine into law would be removing capitalism from the media marketplace. I don’t like many of the shows on TV today, but they sell advertising so they stay on. Some shows I liked got cut because the ratings were too low. There should be no laws attempting to force people to purchase opinions.

The Fairness doctrine and Hate crimes bill WILL pass. There is not one person in public office that does not want to be fair and who is not against hate. No cares about what is right and what is wrong. No one seeks after the truth. We WILL become enemies of the state. Our enemy is real and this is a spiritual war. What disturbs me is that I am one of those as presented before the LORD, even though I call Him Lord and preach in His name, He will tell me “depart from me I do not know you”.

“ “I fear that unless Congress acts soon, the major networks will air more and more indecent words and images without worry of financial penalties, making television virtually unsuitable for any family.

That’s why your senators need to hear from you TODAY!” “

YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!

Let the media speak to who they want to speak to. They are corporations like anything else. They want to make money. So like elected officials they give the people what they want. If you want objective opinions look up scholarly articles. You want media you will get what you ask for. CNN and the Daily Show and Colbert Report for liberals, FOX and the O’Reilly Factor for conservatives. Whats the problem with that? Plus you would hope most Americans are smart enough to know that the real truth will lie somewhere between what FOX says it is and what CNN says it is. Media is not God, always question it.

Right on, Judy!! You have uncovered yet another example [they’re not that rare] of SBC hypocrisy. They also claim that the proposed extension of hate crimes legislation to include the LGBT community would diminish their freedom of speech, yet demand stricter censorship of the public airwaves. Apparently ‘thought police’ aren’t so bad, if they’re Baptists…

It’s interesting how liberal christians cannot accept the truth. They attack and attack and want to shut down any opposition then cannot take it when the other side receives time. The truth is that conservative christians give more to charity then all other groups and spend more time in charity yet are called the hate mongers; while the left talk about help and want to government to control thought and action and help the RICH get FILTHY RICH and the kill the middle. Maybe if these liberals stop attacking christians and see that the whole world is evil then they would stop attacking those that help and helping those that KILL

You may be overreacting just a tad, Mitch. Your implication that anyone who disagrees with you is aiding killers is indicative of the paranoia pervading the Christian movement.

Mitch, most liberals are in fact christian. Liberals aren’t anti-God, if anything they just don’t want to force their religion on others. And it is conservatives that are generally associated with the policies that have created the gap in wealth in America. Look no further than the fallout of Ronald Reagan’s tax cuts. They made the rich richer and the poor poorer. I agree with you that conservatives and liberals alike spend a lot of time in charity. You don’t have to be a conservative or liberal to care about humanity.

However, I’d like to share an interesting observation.

While working at a Catholic homeless agency I overheard our devout Catholic (and extremely conservative) CEO tell several of his staff how thankful he was for the Democrats control of Congress because it meant that they would get more federal funding.

And your last sentence does make you sound like a hate monger
