Few people would challenge the thought that gambling has the potential to cause incredible loss and suffering for those who fall headlong into its grasp. Yet like many of Satan’s wiles, gambling can begin as a casual venture, then slowly expand as individuals start believing that, by risking a little money, they can meet their family’s needs through chance. They become oblivious to the reality that at the end of the day the “house” always wins. It is a fixed game. Gambling, at any level, is an investment in trouble. It is rooted in idolatry, greed, and a conscious choice to look to something other than God for our needs.
