Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, will speak on the sanctity of human life at a Dutch Treat Luncheon March 3.
Heart to Heart Pregnancy Resource Center will sponsor the event, which is open to the public, at Claybrook’s Restaurant in Atoka, Tenn., at noon.
“We want people to come and hear Dr. Land to renew their commitment to uphold the sanctity of human life as well as to strengthen their Christian family values,” said Cathy Waterbury, Heart to Heart’s director.
Waterbury said she hopes the luncheon will rally the business people, pastors and leaders in North Shelby and Tipton counties to support the pro-life movement.
The center is looking to raise financial support in order to add free ultrasounds to their services and begin an abstinence education program in local schools.
Princeton and Oxford-educated, Land is the host of the nationally syndicated radio shows, For Faith and Family and Richard Land Live!. For Faith and Family can be heard locally on WCRV at 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Friday.
In February 2005, Land was featured in Time Magazine as one of “The Twenty-five Most Influential Evangelicals in America.”
During his time as president of ERLC, Dr. Land has represented Southern Baptist and other evangelicals’ concerns inside the halls of Congress, before U.S. presidents, and as an appointee to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
