NASHVILLE, Tenn., July 7, 2014Dr. Barry K. Creamer, a trustee for the Southern Baptist Conventions Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, was unanimously elected to serve as the seventh president of Criswell College today.
Creamer, who has served on the ERLC trustee board since 2011, was previously Criswells Vice President of Academic Affairs since 2011 and as Professor of Humanities since 2004.
I am overjoyed to hear that Barry Creamer is the choice to be the next president of Criswell College, said ERLC President, Russell D. Moore. Dr. Creamer is an intellectual with gospel fire and pastoral zeal. In Dr. Creamer, Criswell will have a president who is respected in the academy, beloved by students and anchored to the cross of Christ.
During his time as an ERLC trustee, Creamer served as the chairman of the ERLC Presidential Search Committee.
Upon former president Dr. Jerry Johnsons appointment as president of the National Religious Broadcasters November 2013, Creamer was named Criswells Chief Operating Officer and has managed the day-to-day operations of the college during the interim period. He will begin his presidency on Aug. 1.
