The ERLC Leadership Council is a collection of SBC pastors and leaders who receive intentional investment from the ERLC and serve as ambassadors for the organization. During their annual term, these council members enjoy equipping through conference calls and events while providing insights to the ERLC and occasional content for erlc.com.
From coast to coast, from mega church to country church, from men to women, and from various backgrounds, these leaders represent a cross section of evangelicalism in general and the SBC in particular. Many Leadership Council members currently serve in pastoral ministry. Others serve in various lay or parachurch settings.
While members of the Leadership Council are neither employees of the ERLC nor spokespersons for the organization, they are invaluable to the work of the ERLC. Members of the Leadership Council often have several other institutional affiliations apart from their position on the Leadership Council. These affiliations, as well as any personal views expressed by Leadership Council members, are not intended to reflect the official views of the ERLC.
Wesley Mills is the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. He received a MDiv and is currently pursuing a PhD in Preaching and Systematic Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminar. Wes and his wife Jenny have two children.
Wesley Vance is the Senior Pastor of the Fellowship Kansas City. He holds a Masters and Doctorate degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to serving in full-time pastoral ministry, Wesley owned a regional company where he worked in strategic roles with business leaders across multiple sectors. Wesley has been married to his wife, Amy, since 2001 and they have two children.
Won Kwak is a second generation church planter and pastor. He is the lead planter of Maranatha Grace Church, a multi-cultural church located right outside Manhattan. Currently, he serves as a Send City NYC Missionary for the North American Mission Board. He loves his wife, Diane, and his five “Kwaklings”.
Zach Souter serves as the Lead Pastor of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Hobbs N.M. He has a BBS in Church Ministry from Hardin-Simmons University, an MA in Family Ministry from Logsdon Seminary, and an Ed.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Zach is married to Suzi and they have two children.
Tim Walker is the Pastoral Care and Communications Pastor at First Baptist Church Biloxi and an Adjunct Instructor at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Darla, and they have four children. He has a Ph.D. (Theology) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS), having written a dissertation on Natural Law in the political theologies of Carl F. H. Henry and Oliver O’Donovan. He is a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, holding a B.A from William Carey College, M.A. and Th.M. from NOBTS, and a M.A. in philosophy from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Todd Brady serves as Vice President for University Ministries and Assistant Professor of Theology and Missions at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He received a Bachelor of Science from Union, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Southern Seminary. Prior to serving at Union, he served as a pastor in Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Kentucky. In addition to his work at the University, he writes for several news agencies and magazines. Todd and his wife, Amy, have five sons.
Todd Kaunitz serves as a Lead Pastor for one of East Texas’ fastest growing churches, New Beginnings Baptist Church (NBBC), located in Longview. He is also the co-author of the book Gospel in the Home. A graduate of East Texas Baptist University, Todd and his wife Adrian have three children.
Vance responded to God’s call to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2000, as a church plant from First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Georgia. He had a vision to launch a church focused on joining in God’s activity locally and globally. Thus was Hope Church born in the fall of 2001 in Las Vegas, NV. Vance holds a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in History and a minor in Business Management from the University of North Alabama, and a Master’s Degree in Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He resides in Henderson, Nevada, with his wife Kristie. He and Kristie are the proud parents of four children, and have a granddaughter and a grandson.
Stephanie Holmes is a lawyer who works as an in-house employment counsel for a company outside of Chicago, Ill. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and American Studies from Illinois Wesleyan University, her Juris Doctor from the Columbus School of Law, and is pursuing a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She is an active member of Redeemer Fellowship Church in St. Charles, Ill. Stephanie is passionate about reclaiming womanhood and about engaging the culture on the topic of gender.
Stephanie Little is a writer and a Bible teacher. For ten years, she taught women of all ages at First Baptist Jacksonville, Fla. During her time in Florida, God also called her to lead other churches to establish and grow their own women’s ministry. In the midst of launching their first daughter to college and adopting a son, God moved her family to Missouri. Stephanie now leads women’s ministry at Fellowship of Wildwood Baptist church. Stephanie is married to Dan, and together they have six amazing children and one incredible son-in-law.
Stephen Johnson serves as the College Ministry Director at Summit Church in Southwest Florida. He is passionate about reaching college students with the gospel, helping them grow in their intimacy with God, and seeing them flourish as members of the local church. He earned his B.S. in Finance and M.B.A. from Florida Gulf Coast University. Stephen is married to Ashley and they have two children.
Steve Bezner has been the Senior Pastor of Houston Northwest Church since 2013. Steve was born and raised in Gainesville, Texas. He is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University (B.A. in Bible; M.A. in Religion) and Baylor University (Ph.D. in Religion). During his time at Hardin-Simmons, Steve met his wife, Joy. They have two sons, Ben and Andrew. They have served together in youth, college, and adult ministry at churches in Texas, and now enjoy serving together alongside the staff, elders, and leaders of Houston Northwest.
Taylor Rutland is senior pastor at First Baptist Dothan, Ala. He holds a Masters of Divinity, Masters of Theology, and PhD from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Taylor has a passion for helping the church to see the value in living a missional lifestyle. Taylor is married to Ashley and they have three children.
Tedrick Woods is the senior pastor of Living Word Fellowship Church in Dallas, Texas. Rev. Woods is married to Latanya F. Woods (who is an elementary teacher) with one daughter and two sons. Rev. Woods graduated from Dallas Baptist University in 2004 with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Religion. He earned a Masters of Christian Leadership from Criswell College and a Masters of Theological Studies from Dallas Baptist University.
Ryan Rice Sr. is a native of New Orleans. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Dillard University, where he studied Mass Communications graduating Magna Cum Laude. After studying Mass Communications at Dillard University, Ryan proceeded to utilize his skills for communications by working in Corporate Communications, as well as, Training and Development. After sensing a vocational call to ministry, Ryan went on as a children’s pastor at a large multi-campus church in Baton Rouge, La. In 2014, Ryan and his family moved back to New Orleans to plant Connect Church in the community of Algiers, where he grew up. Currently Ryan is pursuing an MA in Apologetics from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Ryan and his wife Seane’ have four children.
Raleigh Sadler speaks and writes on the topics of vulnerability and human trafficking. He has been published at The Gospel Coalition, The Huffington Post, and The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, among others. In 2013, he began a movement called Let My People Go, which grew into a nonprofit organization that comes alongside and empowers local churches to address the injustice of human trafficking in a holistic manner.
Raymond Johnson serves as Senior Pastor of Christ Church West Chester in West Chester, Penn. He holds a Ph.D. in New Testament from Southern Seminary. Raymond and his wife, Meghan, have five children.
Rechab Gray serves as Teaching Pastor at Cottage Grove Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Gray grew up as a military brat and has moved all over the country eventually landing in Maryland where he completed high-school and came to faith in Christ. Because of his enjoyment of Physics and Calculus and his love for Philadelphia, he attended Temple University and completed his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. At this time, he began attending Epiphany Fellowship where he’d remain for the next 10 years, eventually being hired on staff as a church plant resident–serving the church through preaching, block evangelism, and international missions. Rechab has been married to his wife for eight years and they have two children.
Rob Collingsworth is the Director of External Relations at Criswell College in Dallas. He previously worked at Criswell as the Director of Communications and as the Communications Specialist at Samford University, where he received his B.A. in Journalism. Prior to coming to Criswell he served in a variety of roles at Southwestern Seminary, where he earned an M.Div. with an emphasis in ethics. He writes freelance for various publications and is a member of TVC Fort Worth. Rob and his wife, Rebeccah, have one son.
Rob McCutcheon is a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State focusing on the Middle East. He currently resides in Tampa, Fla., and serves as the Deputy Foreign Policy Advisor (POLAD) to the Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees all U.S. military forces in the Middle East and Central Asia. Prior to becoming a U.S. diplomat, Rob worked on public policy issues in Washington, D.C. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, and he is fluent in Spanish, Arabic, and Farsi. Rob came to faith at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., where he met his wife, Karen Race McCutcheon. They are now faithful members of Covenant Life Church in Tampa, Fla.
Noe Garcia is the Senior Pastor at North Phoenix Baptist Church in Phoenix, Az. He and his wife have four children. He holds a Doctorate of Ministry and Executive Leadership from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He serves on the Evangelism team for the North American Mission Board, is a Trustee for Union University, and serves on the ERLC leadership council team, as well as being the Second Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is passionate about reaching and equipping people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in Phoenix and around the world.
P. J. Tibayan is the lead pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Bellflower, Calif. He also helps lead The Gospel Coalition L.A. and the Shepherd LA Initiative and blogs at gospelize.me. P.J. has completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in biblical studies with an emphasis on biblical languages from The Master’s University, a Master of Divinity degree from The Master’s Seminary, and the pastoral internship at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. He and his wife, Frances, have five children.
Peter Bargas was born and raised in Southern California. He received his B.A. from The Master’s University and J.D. and M.L.S from Trinity Law School. Peter runs a tech startup and a nonprofit consulting firm in Louisville, Ky. He is married to Lauren and they have one son and a child due in May of 2020. Pete is a member of Third Avenue Baptist Church.
Peyton Hill is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Prattville, Ala. He is passionate about preaching Christ from the entire Bible and motivating believers for global missions. He has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Mississippi State University, an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Applied Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Peyton and his wife, Jordan Lee, have four children.
Nathan Knight is a pastor in Washington, D. C. He and his wife are parents to two boys. He is a graduate of Southeastern Theological Seminary.
Nathaniel Williams (M.Div, Southeastern Seminary) is the Editor of IntersectProject.org at Southeastern Seminary and the pastor of Cedar Rock First Baptist Church. His work has appeared at The Gospel Coalition, Fathom Mag, the ERLC and BRNow.org. He and his family live in rural North Carolina.
Matt Henslee is the pastor of Mayhill Baptist Church, managing editor of LifeWay Pastors, co-host of Not Another Baptist Podcast, co-author of Replanting Rural Churches, member of the Mountain Valley Baptist Association Church Planting Committee, and Second Vice President of the Baptist Convention of New Mexico. He and his wife, Rebecca, have four daughters they adopted in 2015, and are actively engaged in reaching the lost in their community.
Matt Surber is the lead pastor at Mission City Church. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies and Communications from East Texas Baptist University. He then went or to attend Southwestern Theological Seminary, pursuing his Masters of Divinity and graduated with a Masters of Biblical Studies from Trinity Theological Seminary. Matt did post graduate Ph.D. work at Trinity as well. Matt and his wife, Becky, have two teenage sons.
Matthew Clough serves as the Lead Pastor at Fellowship West, a multi-campus replant church located in the Kansas City metro area. Matthew is also an active member of Send Network and has the privilege of helping train the new planters. Prior to coming to Kansas City, Matthew was the Student Pastor and Teaching Pastor, at Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Charles, La. He has also served as the Associate Student Pastor at Cross Church Pinnacle Hills in Northwest Arkansas. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma Baptist University, and graduated Seminary from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Matthew and his wife Meghan have been married since 2006 and have two children.
Michael Wood has served as the Lead Pastor of First West in West Monroe, La., since 2014. He is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Michael has served the convention in various capacities, as well as co-founding the LA Young Pastors Network in Louisiana. He is also the Executive Director of Multiply NELA, a multiplication and revitalization initiative in Northeast LA. He and his wife, Abby, have three sons and one daughter.
Lindsey Carlson is a church planter’s wife, the mother of five children, and has served alongside her husband in pastoral ministry for 16 years. She enjoys teaching and discipling women through writing and public speaking, but most often through the context of her local church in Baltimore, Md. She is the author of Growing in Godliness: A Teen Girl’s Guide to Maturing in Christ (Crossway 2019).
Mark Carrington has been serving as Lead Pastor of Wornall Road Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo., since 2017. Mark has degrees from N.C. State University (BA) and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv). He and his wife Katie have five kids. The Carringtons have lived in Raleigh, N.C., Washington D.C., Turkey, and Georgetown, Ontario.
Mark Satterfield serves as the senior pastor of The Glade Church in Mount Juliet, Tenn. He also serves as a church consultant with LifeWay Leadership. Mark earned his B.S. in Exercise Science from Union University and his M.Div. from Southern Seminary. He’s married to Christine, and they have two children.
Marshal Ausberry is married to the former Robyn Duke, they have three adult children and two grandchildren. Marshal serves as the Sr. Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Fairfax Station, Va. Marshal also serves as the President of the National African American Fellowship of the Southern Baptist Convention (NAAF). NAAF is a fellowship of approximately 4,000 predominately African-American churches that are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Marshal holds a Doctorate in Ministry in Preaching and a THM in Preaching, both degrees were earned at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Marshal also holds a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University and a Graduate Certificate in Biblical Studies from Capital Bible Seminary. He also holds a certificate in Apologetics from Biola University. In addition, Marshal earned a Master Degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration with majors in Accounting and Management from James Madison University. He also holds the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation.
Mary Wiley is the author of Everyday Theology, an eight-week Bible study exploring essential doctrines and why they matter in our everyday lives. She holds a BA in Christian Studies and English from the University of Mobile and an MA in Theological Studies from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She and her husband, John, have two children and live in the Nashville area where they attend and serve Fairview Church. She works in publishing and hosts the Questions Kids Ask podcast.
Matt Sliger serves as the Associate Pastor at South Woods Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn. He has a PhD in Applied Theology from Southeastern Seminary. He also currently serves as an adjunct Greek professor at Bethlehem College and Seminary’s Memphis extension. He’s married to Julie and they have three children.
Matt Boswell is the pastor of The Trails Church. Matt is a Native Texan who grew up the son of a Baptist pastor, and also grew to love the local church. Matt has been involved in pastoral ministry since 2002, and is also an author and hymnwriter. He and his wife Jamie have four children. Matt is a graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.A. Christian Ministry), and is also a Ph.D candidate at Southern Seminary with an emphasis in Christian Worship and Biblical Spirituality.
Ken Holland most recently served as Executive Pastor at University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas. He is currently transitioning back into the marketplace as a financial advisor and will continue to serve at University Heights. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in business and spent over 20 years in Restaurant Management and Supply Chain Operations before joining full time ministry at University Heights in 2011. He serves the Huntsville community as a Chamber of Commerce member, on several City of Huntsville boards, and as volunteer Chaplain with the Huntsville Police Department and is in his first term on the Huntsville Independent School District Board of Trustees. Ken is married to Nicole and they have a son and two daughters, one that was adopted from Uganda in 2014.
Lauren McAfee is a speaker, writer, connector and coffee enthusiast with a heart to engage others in the Bible. While pursuing her graduate degrees in pastoral counseling and theology, Lauren worked at Museum of the Bible from its founding days, until its opening in Washington D.C. Today, she works at Hobby Lobby as Ministry Coordinator and is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Ethics and Public Policy. Lauren and her husband Michael live in Oklahoma City, Okla., and have a daughter.
Lilly Park serves as Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Since 2011, she has taught undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of practical theology, gender and theology, theological anthropology, and counseling-related issues. She presents these topics at conferences and has contributed to Trained in the Fear of God, Counsel for Couples, as well as other books, journals, and outlets. In the local church, she enjoys teaching women the Bible and theology as well as counseling women. Prior to her theological training, she worked as an organizational consultant in the Washington, D.C. area.
Justin is the College Minister at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. He lives there with his wife, Rebecca, and son. He is passionate about reaching college students for Christ and equipping them for a lifetime of discipleship. He also loves working with other ministry leaders to impact their contexts through disciple-making and leadership development.
Kelsey Hency is the founder and editor-in-chief of Fathom Magazine, a media company set out to compel people to seek out the depths of Christian faith. She graduated from The University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in business and received a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. She is married to Mat and they have two daughters, Faye and Elliott. Kelsey and her family attend Northway Church.
John Plum is the founding and lead pastor of TurningPoint Church in Tulsa, Okla. He holds a Bachelors of Arts from Oral Roberts University and a Masters of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Prior to pastoring, John was the Director of Fine Arts and Vocal Music at a local high school in Tulsa. With his background and love for teaching, TurningPoint has developed numerous avenues to reach out to local schools. Throughout the year, John speaks to area high schools on leadership topics, and leads two different Fellowship of Christian Athlete huddles for area sports teams. John and his wife, Jamie, have two children.
Having come to Christ as a university student, Jeff Dodge’s passion is to develop leaders to establish local churches in university communities. To that end, Jeff is a pastor at Veritas Church in Iowa City (near the U of Iowa) and also directs the Salt Network School of Theology, as part of The Salt Network church-planting initiative. Jeff received his MDiv from The Master’s Seminary, and a DMin and PhD from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS). He and his wife, Teresa, have four grown children and a small herd of grandkids.
Jesse Pawley serves as the Worship and Discipleship Pastor at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas. He and his wife, Anna, met while in college at Samford University while doing campus ministry. They moved to Colorado after graduation where Jesse attended Denver Seminary. Jesse and his wife have three children.
Jimmy Scroggins is the Lead Pastor of Family Church, where he has served since July 2008. He and his wife, Kristin, have eight children. Under Jimmy’s leadership, Family Church has grown to a network of 14 neighborhood churches – 10 in English, three in Spanish and one in Portuguese. Family Church is passionate about building families by helping them discover and pursue God’s design while carrying out their vision of taking the gospel to every person, in every family and neighborhood in South Florida. Jimmy is the coauthor of Turning Everyday Conversations into Gospel Conversations and hosts the Church for the Rest of Us podcast at familychurchnetwork.com. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at LifeWay Christian Resources and at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Dr. Scroggins teaches as a visiting professor at both Southern and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminaries.
Jamar Andrews is a native of Jonesboro, Ark. He is married to Stephanie and they have two children. Jamar serves as the Lead Pastor of Word Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Ark. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Arkansas State University, and completed a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Jared Wellman is the pastor of Tate Springs in Arlington, Texas. Jared also serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Southern Baptist Convention. Jared has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (2007) and a Master of Arts in Philosophy (2010) from the Criswell College, as well as a Ph.D. in Theology from South Africa Theological Seminary (2018). Jared has been married to Amanda since 2006 and they have three girls.
Jason Dees is the pastor of Christ Covenant in Atlanta, Ga. He and his wife Paige have three children. Jason grew up in Alabama and earned a degree from Auburn University. He went on to earn an MDiv in Christian Ministry and PhD in Historical and Biblical Spirituality from Southern Seminary. Jason has served as an adjunct professor for Midwestern Seminary and Reformed Theological Seminary. His articles have been published in The Gospel Coalition, For the Church, and the other newspapers and publication, and he has also presented for the Evangelical Theological Society.
Jason Vance serves as the planting pastor of Valley Life Church in Surprise, Ariz. Prior to Valley Life Church, Jason served as the Director of Missions for Mullins Baptist Association in SW Oklahoma. As well as a rural Oklahoma pastor for over a decade before planting in AZ. Jason has been married to Karey since 2000 and they have five children.
Jay Adkins has served as Pastor of First Baptist Church of Westwego since 2002. He holds a Master of Divinity in Biblical Languages and a Master of Theology Degree both from NOBTS and is pursuring a Ph.D in Theology. He currently serves on the Administrative Team of the New Orleans Baptist Association of Churches and on the Editorial Team of SBCVoices.com. Jay is married to Michelle and they have two sons.
Jay Strother is the Lead Campus Pastor of The Church at Station Hill, a regional campus of Brentwood (TN) Baptist Church. He’s a graduate of Greenville (IL) University, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and he’s currently pursing a D.Ed.Min from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He’s the author of Loving Well: Healthy Relationships (equippedchurch.es, 2016), a contributing author to Recalibrate: A New Measure for Family Ministry (Randall House, 2019), Perspectives on Family Ministry (B&H, 2009), Trained in the Fear of God (Kregel, 2011) and the author of several small group and video resources. Jay and his wife Tanya have three daughters, one son adopted from Nepal, and they serve as a host home for Safe Families.
Greg Pickering is Lead Pastor of Brazos Pointe Fellowship in Lake Jackson, Texas; a church he planted in 2001. He actively supports and coaches church planters through the Houston Church Planting Network and NAMB’s SEND City Initiative in Seattle, Wash. He also serves as NAMB’s South Texas Ambassador. Greg married his college sweetheart, Kathy. They are the parents of two adult married sons, and have three grandsons. Greg graduated from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Finance, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a MA in Religious Education.
Hanna is a public school teacher who is passionate about making connections for Christ in both her local community, and abroad. Hanna and her husband, Zachary, served as IMB missionaries for three years in West Africa. After returning to the US, they have helped mobilize churches on how to be actively engaged in the Great Commission. It is her passion to get the gospel to those who have never heard, and to make disciples of women of all ages here in the states. Hanna and Zach have one son, one daughter, and a third baby due in May 2020.
Hunter Melton is the Discipleship and Young Adult Minister at The Church at Avenue South in Nashville, Tenn. Hunter graduated from Lee University in English Education, and taught school for one year before entering vocational ministry. He earned his Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2017. Hunter is married to Joy.
Elizabeth Hyndman reads, writes, and tweets. Officially, she’s a Social Media Strategist at LifeWay. She earned her MA from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and her undergraduate degree from Union University. A Nashville native, Elizabeth still loves living in Music City where she serves as a member of The Church at Avenue South.
Faye Scott accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of thirty-three. Just a few years later, she sensed God’s call on her life and surrendered to fulltime ministry. Faye enrolled at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS) in 1995 where she has since earned a Bachelor, Master of Christian Education, and most recently, a Doctor of Education degree. In addition to her student relationship with NOBTS, Faye has served as adjunct faculty since 2014 in the area of Christian Education. Faye has served as minister to children in four different Louisiana churches since 1995, including First Baptist New Orleans since 2011. In addition, she enjoys leading childhood education training on the local, state, and national levels. Faye, whose husband passed away in 2010, resides in New Orleans. She has three married children and six grandchildren.
Gary Shultz is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Fla., where he has served since July, 2018. Before coming to FBC Tallahassee, he served as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Fulton, Mo. Gary has a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and received his M.Div. and M.A. in Intercultural Studies from Baptist Bible Theological Seminary. In addition to pastoring, Gary also teaches theology at Baptist Bible Theological Seminary and Liberty University. He currently serves as a Fellow for the Center of Pastor Theologians and a trustee for Hannibal-Lagrange University. He is the author of A Multi-Intentioned View of the Extent of the Atonement (Wipf and Stock, 2014). His passion is helping others know, love, and follow Jesus through the ministry of God’s Word and the impact of the local church. Gary has been married to Kristin for 15 years, and they have three daughters.
Derrick DeLain is currently planting Proclamation Church in Nashville, Tenn. He has been married to Rachel for ten years and they have two children. The DeLains desire to see the gospel impact the nations in Nashville and are praying that Proclamation Church will leave a legacy of reaching the Music City for the kingdom of God.
Elicia Horton is currently serving alongside her husband, D.A. Horton, in Long Beach, California, as a church planter. She is a mother of three, former home school mom, business owner, author, basketball coach, Bible teacher, conference speaker, and writer. She has received both her M.S. in Religious studies & M.S. in Organizational Development from Calvary Bible College & Theological Seminary. In 2018 she co-authored her first book with her husband titled Enter the Ring and recently co-labored with other women of color to contribute to a project called, His Testimonies, My Heritage which is an expositional devotional on Psalms 119.
DJ Jenkins grew up east of Los Angeles in Redlands, Calif. During his college years at Cal Poly Pomona, DJ met a great group of students & staff of the local Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) chapter. It was through this organization DJ placed his faith in Jesus and started following Him. After graduating with a BS in biology, DJ spent nine years working with Cru, including one year overseas in São Paulo, Brazil. He met his wife Alisha through Cru and, before moving to Studio City, they worked together at the University of Arizona for five years. In 2012, DJ and Alisha and their team moved to Studio City, an influential neighborhood of Los Angeles, to start Anthology Church. DJ and Alisha have two children. DJ is currently in the final semester of receiving his Masters of Divinity from Gateway Seminary.
Dan Trippie has been married to his wife Gina for 24 years and is the father of twin sons. After ministering in the Southern U.S., Dan returned to his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., in 2008 to plant Restoration Church. Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies from Moody Bible Institute, a Master’s of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he is writing on the topic of religious liberty. Dan and Gina are co-authors of the book He Said, She Said, God Said: Biblical Answers to Marriage Questions.
Dana Hall McCain
Dana Hall McCain is a lifelong Alabamian and a graduate of Auburn University. She is a Resident Fellow with the Alabama Policy Institute where she writes editorial content for a host of media outlets dealing with faith, politics and cultural issues of the day. Her work regularly appears on multiple platforms including AL.com, Yellowhammer News, The Birmingham News, The Huntsville Times and Mobile Press-Register. Dana and her husband Greg “Scooter” McCain are members of First Baptist Church of Dothan, Alabama. She has served the church in the past as Women’s Ministry director and a Bible study leader. The McCains are parents to two teenagers.
Dane Hays is the Executive Director of North Alabama Biblical Counseling in the Huntsville, Ala., area where he is also serving as a lay elder at Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church. Dane is married to Amanda and they have two daughters.
Daniel T. Porter
Daniel T. Porter serves as staff writer and editorial assistant for the Baptist New Mexican and the Baptist Convention of New Mexico. Originally from Oklahoma City, Daniel and his wife Morgan (UNM School of Law, 2021) live in Albuquerque, N.M. They are active members of Rio Church, a church plant in Albuquerque’s historic Old Town neighborhood. Daniel is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity through Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico, where he double-majored in Religious Studies and English Studies. Daniel is a member of the UNM Young Alumni Board, the Baptist Communicator’s Association, and the Evangelical Theological Society.
Daryl has served in local pastoral ministry for over 25 years. He has been the Senior Pastor of Green Hill Church in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., since 2012. He married his high school sweetheart, Deborah, and they have four children. Daryl writes for various online outlets including his own site, crosstied.org.
Dave Miller serves as senior pastor of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Sioux City, Iowa. He served as President of the 2017 SBC Pastors’ Conference. He is a graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic College (now University) and SWBTS. He served churches in Florida and Virginia before returning to Iowa, where he grew up, in 1991, and has served two churches there. Since 2010, Dave has been the editor of SBC Voices. Dave and his wife, Jennifer, have four grown children and seven grandchildren.

David E. Prince is pastor of preaching and vision at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Lexington, Ky., and assistant professor of Christian preaching at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is the author of In the Arena and Church with Jesus as the Hero. He received his M.Div from Southwestern Theological Seminary and his Ph.D from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Judi and they have eight children.
Coleman Philley is the Senior Pastor of Katy’s First Baptist Church. Born and raised on the eastside of Houston, he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. He earned an M.Div. and is a Ph.D. student in Systematic Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Before entering full-time ministry, Coleman worked as an engineer at a private consulting firm in west Houston. He is passionate about text-driven preaching that shows God’s Word to be relevant among all cultures, ultimately leading to heart transformation. He and his wife, Jennifer, have been married since 2007, and have two sons and one daughter.
Courtney Moore is the founder and president of Women & Work, an organization that inspires women to step into their God-given calling and view their work as meaningful to the kingdom of God. A former IMB missionary and classical educator, Courtney has written content for LifeWay Christian Resources, The Gospel Coalition’s Thorns & Thistles column, and for Pinelake Church in Jackson, Miss. She holds a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Mobile and an MA in Biblical Counseling from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She and her husband, Brent, who pastors of LIFEchurch in El Paso, Texas, have three kids.
Courtney Reissig is a writer and bible teacher living in Little Rock, Ark. She is the proud mom of four sons, happy wife to Daniel, and author of three books: The Accidental Feminist, Glory in the Ordinary, and Teach Me to Feel: Worshiping Through the Psalms in Every Season of Life. They are members of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Caleb Turner serves as the Equipping Pastor for the Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. In addition to ministry, he also serves as an Executive Board member for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. Caleb is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having been stationed at Air Force Special Operations Base, Hurlburt Field, Fla. He served a tour at Bagram Air Base, Bagram, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Caleb has a master’s degree in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry in Apologetics from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Caleb’s passions include preaching, teaching and discipling men. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Tamera, and they have three boys.
Carmen LaBerge has a weekday morning broadcast on the Faith Radio network. She previously served on the board of directors of the National Association of Evangelicals, is a member of the National Religious Broadcasters and Christian Leadership Alliance and serves as the volunteer Executive Director of the Common Ground Christian Network. Carmen is an active member of Grace Community Church in Nashville. Carmen earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Florida (1990) and an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary (1993). After serving churches in Texas, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina, Carmen moved to Kingston Springs, Tennessee in 2011 when she married Jim LaBerge.
Chad Poe is originally from Chattanooga, Tenn. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he received a degree in Secondary Education. Following college, he attended Southwestern Seminary, where he received a Masters of Divinity. Chad and his wife, Hope, live in Lake Jackson, Texas, with their sons and daughter. He serves as Teaching Pastor at Grace Bible Church in Clute, Texas.
Chet Harvey serves as associate pastor of adult discipleship at Hebron Church in Dacula, Ga. He has an M.Div. from NOBTS and a Ph.D. in theology from SEBTS. Chet and his wife Anna have two children.
Chris Lewis has been the pastor of Foothill Church in Glendora, Calif., since 2006. He and his wife Michelle have four children.

Brian Coates serves as an Associate Executive Pastor at Brentwood Baptist Church, Brentwood, Tenn. He is a native of Springfield, Va. He holds M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Brian is married to Christine and they have four children.
Brittany Salmon is a freelance writer, an adjunct professor of Global Studies at Liberty University Online, and an editor for the ERLC. She is also an orphan care and prevention advocate, and a doctoral student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. She spends her free time serving her local church, eating Chick-fil-A, and exploring her new home state of Texas with her husband, four kids, and their dog, Mr. Tom Hanks.
Ashley Unzicker is a Graduate student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in N.C. She is working on a degree in Ethics, Theology, and Culture. She currently serves on the Development Team at Hope Reins–a horse ranch that pairs rescued horses with children in crisis to provide hope and healing. Ashley serves on the worship team, the women’s discipleship team, and hosts a small group at Summit RDU. She began a ministry welcoming refugees, visits the elderly and has consistently raised support for pro-life organizations. She has written articles featured in Facts and Trends and LifeWay Pastors about evangelism and caring for the abused. She is married to Todd Unzicker, with whom she has three children.
Averri T. LeMalle
Averri T. LeMalle is the Campus Pastor of Champion Forest Baptist Church, Jersey Village. Averri developed a love for Christ at a young age, and his call to preaching ministry grew in tandem with his Christian growth and development under the Lordship of Christ. He is a graduate of Caskey School of Divinity, Louisiana College, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where his primary training was in Pastoral Ministry with a focus on Psychology and Counseling.
Beau Hughes is the Lead Pastor of TVC Denton. He received his bachelor’s degree from George Fox University in Newberg, Ore., and his M.A. and D.Ed.Min. degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. Beau married Kimberly in 2007. They have four children, two sons and two daughters, and live just a few blocks away from where their church gathers each week.
Ben Wright is married to Meredith, and together they’re parents of five (soon-to-be six). He planted and pastors Cedar Pointe Baptist Church in the northwest Austin suburb of Cedar Park, Texas.
Aaron is the Campus & Teaching pastor of The Church at Avenue South in Nashville, which is a regional campus of Brentwood Baptist Church. He also serves as the Lead Campus Pastor to three other regional campuses of the church within the Nashville area. He is a graduate of Samford University and has an M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He’s married to Amy and they have three children.
Afshin Ziafat is the lead pastor of Providence Church in Frisco, Texas. Before taking his current role in October 2010, Afshin spent over a decade traveling nationally and internationally proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in churches, retreats, camps, conferences and missions. Afshin helped launch Vertical Bible Study at Baylor University in Waco, and has also traveled into the Middle East to train Iranian pastors. Afshin’s passion is to teach the Word of God as the authority and guide for life, to preach Jesus Christ as the only Savior and Redeemer of mankind and to proclaim the love of Christ as the greatest treasure and hope in life. He and his wife, Meredith, have three children.
Alan Brumback has served as the Lead Pastor at Central Sanford in Sanford, FL since 2010. He and his wife April have three children. He received his BA (2006) from the University of Kentucky and his MDiv (2009) and DMin (2013) from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Outside of Central, Alan currently serves as a trustee with the International Mission Board and is a board member of 1-4 Central Florida Church Planting.
