Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 13, 2023 —The Psalm 139 Project, a pro-life ministry of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, in partnership with Louisiana Baptists, Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and Northshore Baptist Association, has donated an ultrasound machine to Restoration House Pregnancy Resource Center in Hammond, Louisiana.
A dedication ceremony will be held Nov. 15, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. CST at Restoration House located at 101 S. Spruce St. Hammond, LA, 70403. Multiple partners will be represented at the dedication including:
- Dr. Steve Horn, executive director, Louisiana Baptists;
- Bobby Reed, CFO, ERLC;
- Dr. Perry Hancock, president and CEO, Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home & Family Ministries;
- Dr. David Cranford, moderator, Northshore Baptist Association;
- Hannah Pounds, ERLC Trustee
“The gift of this lifesaving ultrasound machine to Restoration House Pregnancy Resource Center is a fine example of Baptist cooperation in action,” said Brent Leatherwood, president of the ERLC. “It was truly an honor for our Psalm 139 Project to partner alongside Louisiana Baptists, the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, and Northshore Baptist Association in placing this machine. We are confident it will be used throughout the next several years in God-honoring, life-saving ministry to vulnerable women and children.”
Restoration House Pregnancy Resource Center was founded in 1986 and has served Hammond and surrounding cities for more than 37 years, becoming a long established home in the community. They provide practical support and valuable services to mothers facing unplanned pregnancies and empower women to choose life for their babies. Services are free and confidential including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling, access to Education programs and material needs for babies. This center sees more than 600 clients annually.

The ERLC, the Louisiana Baptist Convention, The Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries, and the Northshore Baptist Association cooperated to bless this local ministry. Louisiana Baptists are committed to repeating this cooperation annually and trust that our cooperation may serve as an exemplary model to be repeated across the nation.”
One hundred percent of financial contributions designated to the Psalm 139 Project go toward purchasing ultrasound machines and providing training for workers. No ERLC Cooperative Program resources are used for these machines.
