Russell Moore to Attend Dedication of New Sonogram Machine at North Jefferson Women’s Center in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 18, 2019—Russell Moore, president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, will join local pregnancy center directors and community leaders for a special church service, followed by a dedication ceremony, celebrating a new sonogram machine at the North Jefferson Women’s Center in Fultondale, Ala., April 26, beginning at 1:00 p.m. CT.

The sonogram machine was provided to the North Jefferson Women’s Center through donations made to The Psalm 139 Project, a ministry of the ERLC focused on aiding pregnancy resource centers in securing ultrasound machines and providing training.

Russell Moore commented, “The Psalm 139 Project is a highlight of our work at the ERLC. It is our joy to support the heroic work of pregnancy centers by equipping them with the latest in sonogram technology. We know that the women who walk through the doors of North Jefferson Women’s Center will be welcomed with open arms and the compassionate heart of Christ.”

Upon receiving the new machine, the North Jefferson Women’s Center donated its previous sonogram unit to the St. Clair Sav-a-Life Ministry, located in Springville, Ala.

“We are so thankful to God who multiplies gifts,” said Julie McLendon, executive director of the North Jefferson Women’s Center. “We know that when women see their babies on an ultrasound, it helps more women choose life. By blessing us with this new ultrasound machine, the Psalm 139 Project allows us to bless our friends at St. Clair Sav-a-Life with a machine of their own, so together we can serve more women in crisis.”

This partnership and stewardship from both centers will be celebrated on April 26, beginning with a 1:00 p.m. service at Gardendale Baptist Church, followed by a ceremony at the North Jefferson Women’s Center at 2:00 p.m. CT. Moore will be joined by the center directors and other community leaders.

“Because of the tremendous cooperation between the ministries in the Birmingham Metro area, our partners were able to further steward the resources of the Psalm 139 Project by providing a new machine to one center and also secure a like-new machine for another that has never had the blessing of ultrasound technology in their Center,” said Christopher Crain, executive director of the Birmingham Metro Baptist Association. “Everyone wins, especially the unborn."

The North Jefferson Women's Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that exists to provide pregnancy-related helps to the community at no charge.

St. Clair Co. Sav-A-Life is a Pregnancy Care Center located in Springville, AL and is an affiliate of Care Net pregnancy resource centers.

The Psalm 139 Project is a ministry of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention focused on aiding pregnancy resource centers in securing ultrasound machines and providing training.
