President and CEO – Full Time
The President of the ERLC shall serve as the Chief Executive Officer, ensuring the Commission’s work towards fulfilling its stated ministry purpose: assisting the churches by helping them understand the moral demands of the gospel, applying Christian principles to moral and social problems and questions of public policy, and promoting religious liberty in cooperation with the churches and other Southern Baptist entities.
In this role, the President of the ERLC will work with denominational and church leaders to promote biblical Christian ethics, particularly among Southern Baptists; lead work in the public and political arena in support of these ethical causes and concerns; equip denominational and church leaders to be effective Christian witnesses in regard to ethical and moral issues that arise in their communities; and promote understanding and defense of religious liberty.
Senior Policy Associate – Full Time – Washington, D.C.
This position is designed for an organized, detail-oriented, self-starting team member seeking to join the band of joyful warriors tasked with applying the gospel to everyday life at the ERLC’s office in Washington, D.C. The Senior Policy Associate provides substantive support for the advocacy work of the Director of Public Policy in the Washington, D.C., office. As appropriate, the Senior Policy Associate will provide leadership and ownership over a portfolio of policy issues. The Senior Policy Associate is also responsible for cultivating and managing a range of relationships on Capitol Hill and within the Administration.
- Research policy issues: The Senior Policy Associate will conduct research on issues, bills, and policy proposals to support the work of defining the ERLC’s policy positions and advocating those positions in Washington, D.C.
- Drafts policy positions: The Senior Policy Associate will draft white papers and policy briefs articulating the ERLC’s position on policy issues before the Congress, the White House, or federal agencies.
- Support and manage projects: In coordination with other members of the team, the Senior Policy Associate provides project-management support to the executive team to complete major projects. Tasks include implementing plans for projects and key events, preparing for events and conferences, researching for projects, and supporting the content team.
- Represents the organization: The Senior Policy Associate will be expected to represent the organization at coalition meetings, build relationships, network with other organizations, and gather intelligence relevant to ERLC priorities and disseminate that information through the organization.
