NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 15, 2015The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention announced members of its new 2015 Leadership Network Council today.

The ERLC first launched its “Leadership Network”:https://erlc.com/network/ in January 2014, a movement of men and women—leaders, pastors and lay people—who desire to join the ERLCs efforts to apply the gospel of the kingdom to the major cultural issues of our day.

This years “Leadership Council”:https://erlc.com/network/council/ is comprised of 40 Southern Baptist pastors and leaders across the U.S. who will serve as an advisory council to the ERLC Leadership Network for the duration of 2015.

ERLC President, Russell Moore, commented on the announcement of the 2015 Leadership Network Council.

The ERLC Leadership Network Council was one of the most beneficial initiatives of 2014, Moore said. It provided us a chance to invest in a strategic group of key leaders. But it also allowed us to get reporting from the front lines of ministry about ethical issues cropping up in communities around the country. I am thrilled to welcome another council for 2015 in order to equip them to apply the gospel to the cultural and ethical issues they face in ministry everyday.

Members of the 2015 Leadership Council include: Fred Luter, pastor of Franklin Ave. Baptist Church in New Orleans, La.; Mike Glenn, pastor of Brentwood Baptist Church in Brentwood, Tenn.; D.A. Horton, executive director of ReachLife Ministries in Atlanta, Ga.; and Vance Pitman, pastor of Hope Church in Las Vegas, Nev.

We are living in extremely complex and rapidly changing times, Pitman said. I am deeply thankful for the leadership of Dr. Moore and the ERLC to help us biblically understand and graciously engage in the midst of these times with the unchanging truth of God’s Word.

Members of the Council will serve an annual term and will be equipped by the ERLC throughout the year through conference calls and events, while providing direction for the Network and occasional content for erlc.com. All Council members either currently are serving or have previously served in pastoral ministry.

Members of the 2014 Leadership Council included: Matt Chandler, pastor of The Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas; David Platt, president of the International Mission Board; J.D. Greear, pastor of Summit Church in Durham, N.C.; and Bart Barber, pastor of First Baptist Church in Farmersville, Texas.

Reflecting on his experience as part of the 2014 Council, Chandler said it was a blessing to be a part of the ERLC Leadership Network Council. When I need help navigating the challenging ethical issues that exist in today’s culture, the ERLC is a great resource for me.
