Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Conventions Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, will join leaders across the political spectrum in calling on Congress to address the immigration issue and create a road to citizenship for aspiring Americans who contribute to their communities and their economy at a Tuesday, Dec. 4 press conference.
First and foremost fair, just and comprehensive immigration reform is the right thing to do and is a human rights issue, said Land.
The failure to achieve immigration reform is rending the social fabric of the nation. We need for our elected representatives to come together and forge a coalition that will provide immigration reform that respects the rule of law, restores the integrity of our national boarders and acknowledges and affirms human dignity of every undocumented immigrant.
The press conference will kick off the two-day National Strategy Session, at which faith, law enforcement and business leaders will launch a critical push for reform. AOL co-founder and current Revolution LLC Chairman and CEO Steve Case will be the featured speaker at the strategy session.
This gathering builds on successful regional summits in the Mountain West, Southeast and Midwest at which nearly 450 business, faith and law-enforcement leaders have built new relationships, discussed state policies and urged pragmatic solutions at the federal level.
