In light of the recent attack by Iran and the upcoming one year marker of Hamas’ attack on Israel, Southern Baptists remain committed to our support for Israel and urge our leaders not to waver in their commitment. Three letters have been sent to the United Nations, President Biden, and the Congressional leadership to urge all to continue in their support for Israel.
Southern Baptists condemn the violence against Israel and fully support its right and duty to defend itself against further attack. Southern Baptists stood with Israel last October and re-affirmed that support during June annual meeting by passing a resolution On Justice and Peace in the Aftermath of the October 7 Attack on Israel. We encourage the United Nations, the Biden administration, and Congress to continue in its commitment to standing with the Jewish people and those suffering in the region.
We encourage Southern Baptists to pray diligently for a peaceful resolution to the war and all affected by warfare. We speak with a unified voice in calling any antisemitic attacks against Jewish people especially heinous, and call for the release of the remaining hostages.
