Nashville, Tenn., June 25, 2024 —The Psalm 139 Project, a pro-life ministry of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, has donated an ultrasound machine to Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center in Sealy, Texas, funded in part by the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention.
A dedication ceremony will be held July 2 from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. CT at Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center located at 2555 FM 1094 Road, Sealy, Texas 77474. Representatives from the ERLC and local community leaders will be in attendance.
“Placing life-saving ultrasound machines never gets old for us at the ERLC,” said Rachel Wiles, director of the Psalm 139 Project. “Each placement allows us the opportunity to meet pro-life heroes serving on the ground in pregnancy centers in their local communities. We know that each placement also serves women and saves precious preborn lives.”
Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center is guided by this mission: “With the wisdom and strength of God; guide, encourage, educate, and inspire mothers and mothers-to-be to make healthy and wise life-saving choices for their pregnancy, their children, and themselves.”
The center opened its doors in February 2016 to serve families with services such as: client appointments; pregnancy tests; prenatal; labor and delivery; and parenting classes. Over the years, Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center saw steady growth, and as a result, it outgrew its facilities. An anonymous donor stepped forward in 2020 to provide necessary funding to begin construction on a new facility. Organizations, individual donors, and local businesses contributed to various aspects of completing the new facility, and the center began serving Sealy and the surrounding communities in the new building on January 9, 2023.
A client from Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center said the following about her experience working with the center: “Between doctor appointments, I had a lot of anxiety about how my baby was doing so coming to Sealy PRC subsided my anxiety. Everyone is so well-trained and helpful. The ultrasound didn’t feel like a medical procedure—it felt like being with family.”
One hundred percent of financial contributions designated to the Psalm 139 Project go toward purchasing ultrasound machines and providing training for workers. No ERLC Cooperative Program resources are used for these machines.
