WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 13, 2018—Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, and U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska will join together at the National Press Club, Nov. 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. EST for a discussion on the growing problem of loneliness in America.
The event will be hosted by The Trinity Forum, a nonprofit organization that works to cultivate networks of leaders whose integrity and vision will renew culture and promote human freedom and flourishing.
During the evening discussion, Sasse will discuss themes from his newly-released book, Them: Why We Hate Each Other and How to Heal. Together, Moore and Sasse will explore ways alienation from one another is destroying individuals’ lives and the fabric of society and what can be done about it.

Ben Sasse is a U.S. Senator representing Nebraska. Previously, Sasse spent five years as president of Midland University, as one of the youngest college presidents in the nation. During his tenure, he revitalized the college, making it the fastest growing college in the state. Previously, Sasse taught at the University of Texas Center for Politics and Governance, and served at both the US Departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services. He also worked with the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey and Company. He received his B.A. at Harvard University and M.A. from St. John's College, and later earned his M.Phil as well as a Ph.D. in American history from Yale University, where his dissertation won both the Field Prize and the George Washington Egleston Award. He also was an editor for Modern Reformation journal.
Russell Moore is the president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, the moral and public policy agency of the nation’s largest Protestant denomination. Moore is the author of several books, including Onward: Engaging the Culture without Losing the Gospel (Christianity Today’s Book of the Year in 2016) and his most recent book, The Storm-Tossed Family: How the Cross Reshapes the Home.
