WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 13, 2013Joined by public policy and religious liberty advocates, Robert P. George was presented the 2013 John Leland Religious Liberty Award today at the U.S. House of Representatives.

George, who serves as McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University and Chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, confronted the Obama administration for failing to live up to its legal obligations under the International Religious Freedom Act.

Speaking for myself, and not on this occasion as Chairman of USCIRF, I call on President Obama to withdraw the HHS mandate that threatens religious freedom in the implementation of the Affordable Care Actand to do so before being compelled to withdraw those mandates by the U.S. Supreme Court in the lawsuits now pending, George said during the lecture.
