Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, will be a featured speaker at Princeton University’s three day conference, “The Conservative Movement: Its Past, Present and Future,” from Thursday, Dec. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 3.
The conference is co-hosted by the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics, a research center of The Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. It will be held in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall, on the Princeton campus. The event is co-sponsored by the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions in the Department of Politics at Princeton University.
Land is an alumnus of Princeton, who graduated magna cum laude from the university in 1969.
“There’s not a week that goes by that I’m not reminded in some very concrete way of what a wonderful education I received at Princeton,” Land said.
The conference will convene other noted scholars, journalists, policymakers and research professionals at the Woodrow Wilson School to address the American conservative movement from a historical perspective, as well as to debate the future of the movement, its political infrastructure, cultural and religious influences and its impact on U.S. foreign policy. Land will be addressing religion and its influence on culture and the conservative movement during a panel discussion Saturday morning.
In addition to Land, other featured speakers during the conference include Steven Hayward of the American Enterprise Institute, who will deliver the event’s keynote opening address on Thursday, December 1; George Will of the Washington Post; Stephen Moore of the Wall Street Journal; author and journalist Lou Cannon; David Brooks of the New York Times; and Walter Russell Mead of the Council on Foreign Relations.
