John D. Herring

John D. Herring serves as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Prosper in Prosper, Texas. John is a native Texan and a graduate of Texas A&M University and Southwestern Seminary. After serving churches in Texas, Colorado, and Nevada, John became the Teaching Pastor/Minister to Adults at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga. Among the highlights of John's eleven year ministry there was the development of new partnership between NOBTS and Johnson Ferry, facilitating the North Georgia Hub's relocation to JFBC. John also greatly enjoyed assisting Senior Pastor Bryant Wright during his tenure as President of the SBC. While in Marietta, John completed a DMin in Spiritual Formation at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. He also served as a founding Board Member and President of Reasonable Faith, the apologetics ministry of Dr. William Lane Craig. John also serves the community of Prosper as a volunteer police chaplain and as member of the "first and ten" chain crew for Prosper High School football. John is currently enrolled at the Bush School of Government and Community Service at Texas A&M University, working toward a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership. John and his wife Roni are the parents of three children.
