Understanding the Pro-Abortion Constitutional Amendment on Your Ballot

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them” (Gen. 1:27)

Life is on the ballot in Nevada in the form of a pro-abortion ballot initiative called the “Nevada Reproductive Rights Amendment.” If passed, it would ensure that Nevada remains one of the most pro-abortion states in the nation.

A “no” vote prevents abortion from being enshrined into the constitution as a fundamental right. Nevada currently allows abortion up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.

A “yes” vote supports amending the Nevada Constitution to establish a “fundamental right to abortion” up until fetal viability to “protect” the life of the mother. Almost all abortions would be allowed under this amendment, including late-term abortions, and the only exception provided is in the event a preborn child is likely to survive outside the uterus without the need for “extraordinary medical measures.”

Election Day is ⁦Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024⁩.

What can Nevada Christians do to stand for life?

There are several ways you can promote a culture of life in Nevada:

  • Pray for wisdom for Nevada voters, for the defeat of this amendment, and for a robust culture of life to take hold.
  • Stand for life at the ballot. The amendment only needs 50% approval of voters to pass, so every vote against this measure counts in the effort to protect life.
  • Educate others about the true nature of this proposal.
  • Advocate by contacting your local representatives and encouraging them to stand firm in their defense of life.
  • Support pro-life organizations by volunteering with or donating to those who are actively working to promote a culture of life in Nevada.
