A 2021 letter in support of eliminating the federal crack cocaine disparity

Sent to U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley and Dick Durbin on April 12, 2021

Inconsistent federal approaches for crack cocaine and powder cocaine undermine proportional sentencing and deepen overincarceration in underprivileged communities. With other faith leaders, we sent this letter requesting Senators Churck Grassley and Dick Durbin build on their historic partnership on criminal justice reform and work to swiftly pass the Equal Act (S. 79) and eliminate the federal crack cocaine disparity.

This letter was sent to U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley and Dick Durbin on April 12, 2021.
