Nashville, Tenn., May 19, 2025 —The Ethics & Religious Liberty of the Southern Baptist Convention will host an event Sunday, June 8 at 9 PM CT at the SBC annual meeting in Dallas, TX entitled, “Southern Baptists in the Public Square.”
The event will feature ERLC President Brent Leatherwood, Ambassador-Designate Mark Walker and U.S. Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) speaking on what it’s like to serve as a Christian in public office, challenges they face, and opportunities they envision for the future of our country.
“As Southern Baptists, we are called to be salt and light in the world, shaping culture with Christ’s love and truth,” said Leatherwood. “This event will not only highlight the vital role of faith in civic engagement, but also equip attendees with the conviction needed to navigate the complexities of today’s public square with confidence and biblical integrity. It is my honor to host some of our nation’s top leaders and fellow Southern Baptists for this important conversation.”
Members of the press are invited to attend by registering and presenting SBC annual meeting press credentials upon entry. To RSVP, email Elizabeth Bristow at [email protected] to receive a press code for registration. There will be designated press tables.
