ERLC’s Psalm 139 Project Marks 100th Ultrasound Placement with Dedication at Mercy House in Elizabethtown, North Carolina

100th Ultrasound Placement

NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 5, 2026—The Psalm 139 Project, a pro-life ministry of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, is celebrating its 100th ultrasound machine placement at a dedication in partnership with NC Baptists at Mercy House Pregnancy Resource Center in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, on May 8.

The Psalm 139 Project began in the early 2000s and exists to help pregnancy resource centers minister to abortion-vulnerable women by providing ultrasound equipment and medical staff training to operate these life-saving machines.

Since its inception, the Psalm 139 Project has placed machines across the country and two internationally, all with the same goal: to save lives.

The dedication will take place Friday, May 8, from 10:00–11:30 a.m. EST at the center located at 501 Doctors Dr. Elizabethtown, North Carolina, 28337. Representatives from the ERLC, NC Baptists, and local staff and volunteers will gather together and pray for the ministry that occurs there.

“Glory to God for this milestone moment in the history of the Psalm 139 Project,” said Rachel Wiles, director of the Psalm 139 Project. “Ultrasound technology is powerful and literally saves lives. It has been an honor to lead this work, and I am deeply grateful for the heroic efforts of pregnancy care centers across the country who serve as the hands and feet of Christ, offering hope and life‑saving care every day. May the Lord continue to bless the ministry of the Psalm 139 Project for years to come as we look forward to celebrating the next 100 placements.”

Leigh Britt, nurse manager for Mercy House Pregnancy Resource Center, emphasized that the gifted ultrasound machine will strengthen the center’s ability to serve future clients.

“This expansion of limited ultrasound services with our new machine allows us to provide more comprehensive care to women facing unexpected or uncertain pregnancies,” said Britt. “Ultrasound is a vital early step in pregnancy care, and now women in Bladen County can receive this service at no cost in a safe and supportive environment. This is a testament to God’s faithfulness and the generosity of his people, allowing us to serve women and families in an even deeper and more meaningful way.”

NC Baptists have been long-time supporters of the Psalm 139 Project. Todd Unzicker, executive director-treasurer of NC Baptists, commented on the excitement of this moment and the eternal truths about how each person made in the image of God.

“It’s a great privilege for NC Baptists to participate in this strategic placement that will save lives and take part in a monumental moment for the Psalm 139 Project,” said Unzicker. “We believe every person is made in the image of God, and the images generated by this machine will reflect that eternal truth to the mothers and fathers served by Mercy House.”

One hundred percent of financial contributions designated to the Psalm 139 Project go toward purchasing ultrasound machines and providing training for workers. The Cooperative Program provides the promotional, administrative, and other costs associated with the project. Tax-deductible gifts may be made online to The Psalm 139 Project or via check to ERLC, 901 Commerce Street, Nashville, Tenn., 37203. Learn more at psalm139project.org.
