SBC’s Richard Land to participate in World Economic Forum Annual Meeting

Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, will participate in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2006 in Davos, Switzerland, Jan. 25-29.

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

Land will participate in three sessions titled, “Intelligent Design: Science, Religion, and the Search for Truth,” “The 8th Deadly Sin” and “Does an Economy Need Morals?”

The Annual Meeting is the World Economic Forum’s flagship event. Other regional meetings and initiatives occur around the world. The central goal of the meeting is to find solutions to global challenges. Over 2000 people take part in the five-day program of workshops and interview-style panel discussions that focus on crucial global, regional and industry issues.

The Southern Baptist Convention is America’s largest non-Catholic denomination with more than 16.3 million members in over 43,500 churches nationwide. The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission is the SBC’s ethics, religious liberty and public policy agency with offices in Nashville, Tenn., and Washington, D.C.
