NASHVILLE, Tenn., July 20, 2026—The Psalm 139 Project, a pro-life ministry of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, will dedicate an ultrasound machine to LifeClinic Community Resources on July 30. Funding for the machine was made possible by gifts from the Psalm 139 Project’s Across State Lines emphasis, the Bay Area Baptist Association, and Michigan Baptists.
The dedication will take place at 10 AM EST at the center located at 4364 State Street, Saginaw, MI, 48603. ERLC President Dr. Evan Lenow will attend the dedication alongside Rachel Wiles, director of the Psalm 139 Project, and Bobby Reed, the ERLC’s chief financial officer. They will be joined by David Roberts, associational mission strategist for the Bay Area Baptist Association.
“One of the most rewarding parts of the ERLC’s ministry is the Psalm 139 Project, and it is a privilege to attend my first dedication as ERLC President,” said Lenow. He continued,
“I’m deeply grateful for the generosity of faithful Southern Baptists and partners like the Bay Area Baptist Association and the State Baptist Convention of Michigan whose support makes these life‑saving placements possible. My prayer is that, through this technology, the hope of the gospel will reach women and families for generations to come.”
According to data from the Guttmacher Institute, more than 38,000 abortions were performed in Michigan in 2025, and approximately 1,900 women traveled to Michigan from states with stronger pro‑life protections to obtain an abortion. Michigan remains a firmly pro‑choice state, having enshrined abortion access in its constitution.
In November 2025, the ERLC expanded its Psalm 139 Project with a new initiative, Across State Lines, designed to bring the hope of the gospel, advocate for preborn lives, and provide tangible support to mothers in pro-choice states. Through the life‑saving power of ultrasound technology, this initiative aims to meet women where they are and offer compassionate, practical help in places where abortion remains widely accessible.
LifeClinic Community Resources offers holistic care for the mind, body, and spirit with patient permission. Their goal is to serve with compassion, listen to patient concerns and provide accurate information.
“Angela (not her real name) came to LifeClinic seeking an ultrasound before an abortion, believing it would simply confirm she was carrying ‘a blob of tissue,’” said Lori Drake, chief executive officer of LifeClinic. She explained,
“Instead, she saw the unmistakable image of her baby. Through tears, she kept saying, ‘It’s a whole baby.’ In that moment, everything changed. Angela chose to continue her pregnancy, later sharing that she had nearly taken the abortion pill without ever seeing the ultrasound. She was deeply grateful she came first, saying the opportunity to see her baby made all the difference.”
One hundred percent of financial contributions designated to the Psalm 139 Project go toward purchasing ultrasound machines and providing training for workers.
